Kea, Rob Roy Glacier, Otago, NZ

Posted by
Nik (Bude, United Kingdom) on 5 March 2012 in Animal & Insect and Portfolio.

This was my first encounter with these hooligans, familiar to anybody who has been tramping in New Zealand. Whilst this one was distracting me posing for a photo two of its friends were in my rucksac. Keas are highly intelligent indigenous wild parrots well known for their teamwork, and for rifling through bags, pulling rubber trim off cars and generally making a nuisance of themselves.

Please have a look at my other photoblog at http://www.nomadlens.com where I post daily images of the South West of England (where I live). I really appreciate your comments on both of them.
